But maybe you’re looking for a fruity and fun way to celebrate the day without bringing home a big box of doughnuts from the bakery. Good news—you can make your own easy “doughnuts” using apple slices—no baking required. Here’s how!
How to Make Easy Apple “Doughnuts”
Ingredients
- 3 large apples
- Toppings of your choice (see list below for ideas)
Directions
- Cut the apples into slices about ¼ to ½ inch thick and discard the top and bottom slices.
- Make a “doughnut hole” in the center of each slice with a spoon, a melon baller, or a piping tip.
- Briefly place the apple slices in lemon juice, then dry them off after removing them.
- Assemble the apple slices on a tray and begin the decorating process!
For toppings, try any of the following:
- Cream cheese
- Peanut butter
- Buttercream frosting
- Honey
- Nutella
- Yogurt
Once the apple slices are coated with your choice of toppings, sprinkle any of the following on top:
- Mini chocolate chips
- Colorful sprinkles
- Cinnamon
- Nuts
- Berries
