These units feature a journal filled with entries from our famous traveling cat, Thaddeus, whose vivid descriptions make you feel as if you were the one exploring each state. Combined with hands-on activities, reading and comprehension questions, and writing exercises, these units create an unforgettable learning adventure that truly brings geography to life.

If you've downloaded one of these units, you'll notice that the journal entries are designed to look like an authentic travel journal, complete with front and back covers. If you haven't snagged this printable yet, find a free sample of Hello, Hawaiʻi! by clicking this link.

Here's a simple guide on how to bind your journal to enhance your learning experience even further!

Assembling Your Travel Journal

  1. Print your journal entries back-to-back

The entire geography unit is meant to be printed back-to-back. When printing double-sided, be sure to pick the option to flip the pages on the long edge if prompted. If you are unable to print back-to-back, you can glue or tape your pages together.
  2. Punch three holes on the left side of the pages

Once your pages are printed, stack them in order. On the left side, punch three holes through the entire stack of pages.
  3. Tie yarn or ribbon through the holes to bind your journal

Cut three short pieces of yarn or ribbon and strand one through each hole, being sure to loop it through the entire stack of papers. Tie each strand into a knot or bow. Keeping the tie a bit loose will help the journal pages turn freely.
  4. Enjoy your completed journal!

That's it! You now have a completed and bound travel journal. Enjoy your voyage!
