Bingo Around the World - A Fun FREE Geography Game

If your students have trouble telling the difference between a state, a country, and a continent, they're not alone! These geography terms can be tricky to remember! When teaching your child these terms, it's helpful to first break them down by definition from biggest to smallest:

  • Continent: A massive land area that contains many countries. Continents include Africa, Asia, North America, and so on—there are seven in total.
  • Country: A nation with its own government and borders. Countries include places like Brazil, Germany, and Kenya.
  • State: A region that is part of a larger country. For example, California and Virginia are states within the country of the United States.

But how do you get these terms to really stick in your child's mind? An effective way to remember these terms is by playing a game repetition... which is why we created Bingo Around the World! This printable game provides a hands-on activity that can be played again and again.

Whether you're a homeschooler, a classroom teacher, or just a parent looking for reinforcement, this Bingo game is a fun and effective way to build a better grasp on the differences between a state, country, and continent.

What Kids Will Learn

What exactly is the difference between a state, a country, and a continent? This game makes those distinctions clear by encouraging players to sort each place into its correct category while playing a classic game of Bingo.

What’s Included

  • 4 colorful Bingo boards (for up to 4 players)
  • A set of call-out cards featuring states, countries, and continents
  • Easy-to-follow instructions
  • Endless replay value—just shuffle and go again!

How to Play

  1. Print the Bingo boards and cards.
  2. Cut out the cards and shuffle them.
  3. Give each player a Bingo board.
  4. Pick a Bingo card and call out 1) whether it is a continent, state, or country, and 2) the place name.
  5. Check your board. If you have the item called, place a small marker on the card (e.g., a penny, cheerio, or piece of paper).
  6. Continue until someone completes a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row and yells BINGO!

Want to play again? Just reshuffle the cards for a brand new game!

Learning through play is one of the most effective ways to make new concepts stick. With Bingo Around the World, kids are learning through hands-on repetition.
